Carey, a former top model in fashion who measured at almost 5'10" she was a favorite of American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father was a prominent scientist and was named Scientist of 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey was a frequent traveler in honor of her father's efforts. In her college years, she began to model for a small amount of time and was able to attract the attention to Ford model Agency representatives in New York. She briefly spent time and studied in Paris prior to returning in New York. Her modeling and academic career rocketed and she appeared on Glamour's, Vogue's as well as many other covers of magazines. While she was modeling, she was a full-time student, completing a master's degree of literature from New York University. Her interest grew in acting and started studying in the Neighborhood Playhouse of New York. Her first acting experience was in a role in the film with Robin Williams in the 1986 film 'Club Paradise. She spends her free time skiing, white-water rafting, wind-surfing and climbing rocks.
